National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS)

A government scheme that supports affordable housing is the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) and Hunter Community Housing has a number of properties that are a part of NRAS. Affordable housing through NRAS is secure housing for households earning low to moderate incomes who cannot afford to pay rent in the private rental market. Affordable Housing offers a discount of around 20% from the property market rent.

Affordable housing is not the same as social housing. Households do not have to be eligible to apply for social housing and do not need to be on the Housing Pathways wait list.
