This month Hunter Community Housing (HCH) marked an important milestone as it celebrated its first-year anniversary.
HCH was set up in 2023 to expand the Diocese’s social and affordable housing portfolio across the Hunter region.
The Diocese has had a long and proud history of providing accommodation and housing services through CatholicCare and its own housing projects.
Since the establishment of HCH however, the Diocese aims to deliver more innovative and affordable housing solutions at a larger scale.
As a Tier 2 community housing provider, HCH offers secure, affordable rental housing and connects tenants with relevant wrap-around services and support.
General Operations Manager, Jessica Bentley said, “HCH has made great progress in its first year identifying many potential sites for new social and affordable housing developments across the Diocese.”
“Our Tier 2 status enables us to apply for certain government tenders and this opens up new opportunities for us to grow. We are currently working on applications for more housing projects, hoping to increase the social and affordable housing stock to help address some of the housing challenges in our region.”
